Solidification structure simulation and casting process optimization of GCr15 bloom alloy

Based on the solidification heat transfer model and CAFÉ model, structure of GCr15 bloom alloy was studied. Using nail shooting acid etching experiments, models were verified. The secondary dendrite arm spacing (SDAS) obtained by simulation calculation metallographic observation. With increase casting speed, SDAS, equiaxed crystal ratio (ECR) average grain size increase. rise superheat, SDAS increases in 20–70 mm thickness decreases 80–160 thickness. ECR with superheat. specific water flow, both decrease. minimum is when flow 0.20 L·kg-1. central carbon segregation index reduced from 1.11 to 1.075.
